Didgeridoo
8 products
Synonymous with indigenous Australian culture, the didgeridoo is certainly one of the most iconic wind instruments in the world – instantly conjuring the essence of Arnhem Land and the Australian outback. It is easy to play and is fun for all ages – just put your lips to the reeds and blow.
Didgeridoos – Our Indigenous Heritage
The Toca didgeridoo – for example – is played using only the breath, making it easy to pick up and learn but hard to master. The main component to successful playing is learning the art of circular breathing. This means that the air isn’t expelled through your mouth and lungs like with blowing through a trumpet, but instead, it’s allowed to flow in and out of your chest cavity. This is done by taking a deep breath, holding it, then slowly exhaling through the mouth.
These primal sounds are perfectly accompanied by the rhythmic beating of bongos and conga drums. This creates a mystical atmosphere, which is perfect for all types of ceremonies. It can also be used as a meditation tool to calm the nerves and clear the mind.
